To whom it may concern at Lucas Film,

I've been waiting patiently for the original (non-special edition) Star Wars DVDs. I was very happy to hear about the upcoming release that would include the originals as bonus material.

Today I learned that the original versions will not be 16x9 anamorphic transfers. I am surprised and disappointed that Lucas Film would attempt to do this "on the cheap" when the films were so financially successful. To say that you are doing this "for the fans" is a bit insulting, when the fans of the original movies are exactly the sort of people who care about these technical details.

I know that as a fan and a customer you do not "owe" me anything. However, I hope you will reconsider your decision and do a proper DVD set. Otherwise you would be wise to not waste your time. I will not be wasting my money--and I will be sure to tell my friends and family why.

Yeah, I know they don't really care what I think. But I love these movies enough that I want to see them done right.
